Grilled Salmon with Homemade Herb Butter

Make an impression at your next barbecue with this delicious grilled salmon topped with homemade herb butter. It's easy to make and packed with flavor!

Ingredients (for 4 people)

  • 4 pieces of salmon fillet (about 150-200 g each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 lemon (sliced)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the herb butter:

  • 100 g unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 garlic clove (finely chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill (finely chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • Pinch of salt

Preparation

Preheat the grill. The goal is a medium-high temperature, and preferably use wood or charcoal for an extra smoky flavor. The stone slabs around the grill section in our outdoor kitchens help maintain heat and distribute it evenly.

Cooking

  1. Mix the softened butter with the garlic, parsley, dill, lemon zest, and a pinch of salt. Scoop the herb butter onto a piece of plastic wrap and roll it up into a cylinder. Let it chill in the fridge while you prepare the salmon.

  2. Lightly brush the salmon fillets with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place the salmon skin-side down on the stainless steel grill rack. Grill the salmon for 4-5 minutes per side, depending on thickness, until cooked through and it easily separates from the grill. Note: Grill the salmon on the skin side until about 90% cooked, then flip it for the final 10%.

  3. Remove the salmon from the grill and place it on a plate. Slice the herb butter and place it on top of the warm salmon, allowing the butter to slowly melt.

  4. Serve with lemon slices and, if desired, a fresh green salad or grilled vegetables.

Tip: For an extra flavorful twist, marinate the salmon in a mixture of olive oil, lemon juice, and a bit of honey for 30 minutes before grilling.
